Emergency preparedness for students

The Norwegian authorities recommend that as many people as possible, students included, are prepared to fend for themselves for a week. This is because municipalities and emergency services must prioritize those who cannot manage without help in a crisis.

The Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB) offers a brochure on self-preparedness in many languages and give answers to frequently asked questions about self-preparedness. Note that the most important measures is drinking water for a week and a plan to keep warm in the case of an power output.

Good emergency preparedness is an investment in the safety of yourself and your family or friends. If you follow the advice on self prepareness, you will be better able to manage situations - everything from minor disturbances in everyday life to more serious crises.
