Written on-site examinations

A written, on-site examination is a supervised, individual examination on university premises.

Digital on-site examination

  • From 1 September 2026, all written examinations (school examinations, assignments, theses, and portfolios) will be held in WISEflow.

    We recommend that you complete a demo test before the exam so you can test your computer and become familiar with WISEflow. The demo test ‘FLOWassign’ shows how a home exam/assignment submission will normally take place. The demo test FLOWlock simulates an on-site examination and requires downloading a lockdown browser.

    How to do a demo test in WISEflow:

    • Log in to WISEflow.
    • Click the button «Demo flows» at the bottom of the web page, find the flow type you want to test and click «Try out demo».


  • 💻 You must provide your own PC or Mac with administrator rights, cf. Section 8-2 of the Regulations relating to Studies and Examinations at Nord ​University. Chromebooks or tablets cannot be used. 


    Preparations before the examination day

    🖥️ Check your username and password for your FEIDE user with two-factor authentication​.  

    🖥️ Ensure a proper connection to the wireless network Eduroam. Do not use the guest network. Check the box for "Connect automatically".

    🖥️ Download the Lockdown Browser

    - Log in to no.wiseflow.net/nord
    - Click on your name, and the "Edit Profile".
    - Choose "System"
    - Download and install Lockdown-browser.

    The browser is updated regularly, so it is important to check that you have the latest version before each exam. You can do this by opening the exam page in WISEflow, clicking "Guide to Lockdown Browser", and then selecting "Test browser". Make sure that the check displays two green check marks. You can also find the same button on your user profile.

    🖥️ Do a demo test. Click the button «Demo flows» at the bottom of the Overview page in WISEflow. Choose FLOWlock to test Lockdown Browser and click «Try out demo».


    🖥️ Update and restart your computer. On the day of your examination, all programs must be closed and shut down. Some programs can prevent Lockdown Browser from working and must be closed and/or uninstalled before the exam. Examples: Steam, Teamviewer, Facebook and Discord.


    System requirements:


    🖥️ Operating system
    - Windows 11 or later
    - Mac OS/X 11.0 or later

    If your operating system is too old, Lockdown Browser will not work.

    We recommend using one of the two most recent versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari.

    Valid ID


    🪪Check that you have a valid ID (list of valid identification found below).

    Guidelines for examnination candidates

    🧾Familiarise yourself with the guidelines for examination candidates.

  • We encourage you not to wear perfume out of consideration for students with potential allergies who are in the same exam room.

    • Meet at the specified location at least 30 minutes before the exam is scheduled to start.
    • Bring a valid proof of identity (see list below).
    • Bring your own computer and charger.
    • It is allowed to use a wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard. It is not allowed to use a wireless headset or other digital tools not specified here.
    • Your computer must be updated and restarted. All programs must be closed and shut down. 
    • Bring your phone, you must have this in case you have to log in with two-factor authentication​.

      Note: You will not be allowed additional time for an examination if you arrive late or have not installed the Lockdown Browser.

    During the exam

    • Follow instructions given by the exam invigilators.
    • Log in to no.wiseflow.net/nord
    • Choose the correct flow
    • Enter the password. You will receive the password from the exam invigilator before the examination starts.
    • The examination is now in progress and the questions must be answered.
    • Your answer will be stored automatically and continuously in the system every 15 seconds.
    • If the network connection fails during the examination, contact the exam invigilator immediately.
    • Submission must take place before the time is up.​

    Valid identification

    Make sure you have valid photo identification:

    • Passport
    • Driver’s license
    • National ID card
    • National ID card in the BankID App
    • Digital driver’s license

    If you plan to use identification in the BankID App, you MUST activate this BEFORE the exam. See how to do this here.

    Invalid identification:

    • Student card
    • Digital student ID

Written examination with pen and paper

    • Log in to Studentweb to check whether you're having the written examination in Inspera, WISEflow or with pen and paper.
    • Passport
    • Driver’s license
    • National ID card
    • National ID card in the BankID App
    • Digital driver’s license

    If you plan to use identification in the BankID App, you must activate this BEFORE the exam. See how to do this.

    • Student card
    • Digital student ID

  • Valid proof of identity must be presented at the examination premises.

    Meet at the specified location at least 30 minutes before the exam is scheduled to start.
