Digital on-site examination

  From 1 September 2026, all written examinations (school examinations, assignments, theses, and portfolios) will be held in WISEflow.
  
  We recommend that you complete a demo test before the exam so you can test your computer and become familiar with WISEflow. The demo test ‘FLOWassign’ shows how a home exam/assignment submission will normally take place. The demo test FLOWlock simulates an on-site examination and requires downloading a lockdown browser.

  How to do a demo test in WISEflow:

  • Log in to WISEflow.
  • Click the button «Demo flows» at the bottom of the web page, find the flow type you want to test and click «Try out demo».

  💻 You must provide your own PC or Mac with administrator rights, cf. Section 8-2 of the Regulations relating to Studies and Examinations at Nord ​University. Chromebooks or tablets cannot be used. 

  
  Preparations before the examination day

  🖥️ Check your username and password for your FEIDE user with two-factor authentication​.  
  

  🖥️ Ensure a proper connection to the wireless network Eduroam. Do not use the guest network. Check the box for "Connect automatically".
  

  🖥️ Download the Lockdown Browser

  - Log in to no.wiseflow.net/nord
  - Click on your name, and the "Edit Profile".
  - Choose "System"
  - Download and install Lockdown-browser.

  The browser is updated regularly, so it is important to check that you have the latest version before each exam. You can do this by opening the exam page in WISEflow, clicking "Guide to Lockdown Browser", and then selecting "Test browser". Make sure that the check displays two green check marks. You can also find the same button on your user profile.

  🖥️ Perform a demo test. Click the button «Demo flows» at the bottom of the Overview page in WISEflow. Choose FLOWlock to test Lockdown Browser and click «Try out demo».

  
  🖥️ Device monitor

  For some school examinations, you will be allowed to use software that is not supported by Lockdown Browser, such as Excel. In these cases, the program WISEflow Device Monitor is used instead. The procedure for downloading, installing, and testing it is the same as for Lockdown Browser.

  About Device Monitor: During the examination, from the moment you start the exam until you submit your answer, Device Monitor will periodically save screenshots of whatever is visible on your screen. In other words, your work is monitored throughout the exam, and these images are stored. The images are accessible to the examination administration and invigilators. You will also have access to the images yourself in WISEflow after the exam. The images are stored for 180 days.

  
  🖥️ Update and restart your computer. On the day of your examination, all programs must be closed and shut down. Some programs can prevent Lockdown Browser from working and must be closed and/or uninstalled before the exam. Examples: Steam, Teamviewer, Facebook and Discord.

  If your operating system is too old, Lockdown Browser will not work.

  Guidelines for examnination candidates

  We encourage you not to wear perfume out of consideration for students with potential allergies who are in the same exam room.

  • Meet at the specified location at least 30 minutes before the exam is scheduled to start.
  • Bring a valid proof of identity (see list below).
  • Bring your own computer and charger.
  • It is allowed to use a wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard. It is not allowed to use a wireless headset or other digital tools not specified here.
  • Your computer must be updated and restarted. All programs must be closed and shut down. 
  • Bring your phone, you must have this in case you have to log in with two-factor authentication​.
    
    Note: You will not be allowed additional time for an examination if you arrive late or have not installed the Lockdown Browser/Device Monitor.
    

  During the exam

  • Follow instructions given by the exam invigilators.
  • Log in to no.wiseflow.net/nord
  • Choose the correct flow
  • Enter the password. You will receive the password from the exam invigilator before the examination starts.
  • The examination is now in progress and the questions must be answered.
  • Your answer will be stored automatically and continuously in the system every 15 seconds.
  • If the network connection fails during the examination, contact the exam invigilator immediately.
  • Submission must take place before the time is up.​

  Valid identification

  Make sure you have valid photo identification:

  • Passport
  • Driver’s license
  • National ID card
  • National ID card in the BankID App
  • Digital driver’s license

  If you plan to use identification in the BankID App, you MUST activate this BEFORE the exam. See how to do this here.

  Invalid identification:

  • Student card
  • Digital student ID

Written examination with pen and paper

  Most examinations are digital. Log in to Studentweb to check whether you're having the written examination in WISEflow or with pen and paper.
  

  
  Digital Submission

  Even if you write your exam by hand on paper, you must submit it digitally so that the examiner can access your answer quickly and securely. If this applies to your course, you will receive information about it in Studentweb and by email before the exam.

  Prepare in Advance

  Practice scanning your written answers using your mobile phone. Scan all pages so that they are combined into a single PDF file, give the file a recognizable name, and save it in a location where you can easily find it again.

  • Android: Use Microsoft OneDrive (app, sign in with your student account), Google Drive, or the Files app. Alternatively, you can try Genius Scan (free app).

  • iPhone: Use Microsoft OneDrive (app, sign in with your student account) or the Notes app.

  • Familiarise yourself with the guidelines for examination candidates.

  What to bring:

  📱 Mobile phone. During the examination, your mobile phone must be switched off and placed in the designated area.

  🪪 Valid identification (see more information below).

  🖊️ Writing materials

  You must arrive at the examination venue no later than 30 minutes before the start of the exam. No additional time will be granted if you arrive late.

  Please follow all instructions given in the examination venue.
  

  How to Submit Your Exam

  1. Notify an invigilator when you have finished writing or when the examination time has ended.
     
  2. Prepare your phone. You may now retrieve your phone. Please note: You are no longer allowed to write on your answer sheets.
     
  3. Scan your answer. Scan all your pages into a single PDF file, give the file a recognizable name, and make sure you know where the file is saved.
     - Android: Use the Files app. Alternatively, you can try Genius Scan (free app)
     - iPhone: Use the Notes app.
  4. Upload the file: Access WISEflow on your mobile phone and upload the PDF file.
     
  5. Password. You must obtain a password from the invigilator in order to complete the submission.
     
  6. Submit the Paper Copy. After submitting your exam digitally, you must also hand in the physical answer sheets. You can find your digital submission in WISEflow under “Participant Archive.”

  Photo Identification
