Suitability assessment

Suitability assessment is an ongoing evaluation of the student's academic and personal qualifications for functioning in their future profession. If there is justified doubt regarding a student's suitability, a special suitability assessment shall be initiated.

When in doubt about a student's suitability

If you have concerns about whether a student is suitable for the profession or programme of study, you should discuss these concerns with the student as early as possible.

If you are uncertain about how a concern should be handled, please contact the suitability assessment coordinator at Nord University.

The purpose of the suitability assessment is to determine whether a student may pose a potential risk to the life, physical or mental health, rights, or safety of the patients, service users, preschool children, pupils, animals, clients, animal owners, or others with whom the student will come into contact during practical training or in their future professional practice.

The ongoing suitability assessment shall be carried out throughout the entire course of study and shall be evaluated in both the theoretical and practical components of the programme. If there is justified doubt regarding a student's suitability, a special suitability assessment shall be conducted. This measure is intended for exceptional cases where other formal and informal interventions during the course of study have not resolved the situation.
