My research focuses on inclusive vocational education and training (VET) as a pathway to both employment and active participation in society.
My work explores how vocational education and training can be organised and developed to create inclusive learning environments in which all learners are given the opportunity to succeed. In particulal, I am interested in vocational teachers’ work in providing support, guidance, and accessible teaching for students with diverse educational needs and backgrounds. My research spans analyses of policies and discourses related to inclusion in VET, as well as practice-oriented and didactic studies of teaching, learning, and support practices.
More recently, I have developed an interest in the civic and democratic dimensions of vocational education. Through studies of participation, democratic citizenship, and social inclusion, I examine how VET can contribute not only to vocational competence but also to learners’ engagement in society. This line of research builds on my longstanding interest in inclusion and participation, exploring how vocational education can support learners in becoming both skilled professionals and active citizens.
I am a member of the research group Vocational Education at Nord University.
