Information to other libraries

The Nord University Library (UB Nord) provides interlibrary loan services to libraries in Norway and abroad.

Guidelines for interlibrary loans – National Library of Norway (2023)

Students at Nord University must reserve and request materials directly from UB Nord via Oria. This also applies to students in online and session-based study programmes.

The loan period is four weeks. It may be extended up to 120 days if the book is not reserved.

UB Nord may prioritize its primary users (students and staff at Nord University) when necessary.

UB Nord does not send the following types of material via interlibrary loan:

  • DVDs, CDs, audiobooks
  • Teaching materials

UB Nord does not loan out materials with short loan periods through interlibrary loan. Such materials are marked in Oria as:

  • “Day loan”
  • “Not for loan”

UB Nord does not lend out books that are less than three months old via interlibrary loan.

The UB Nord collections located in Vesterålen, Mo i Rana, and Stjørdal are not available for interlibrary loan.

E-books

When requested, UB Nord provides copies of individual chapters from e-books that we have purchased or subscribed to, if the license permits this.

UB Nord has a DDA collection (Demand-Driven Acquisition). Titles in this collection are marked “Nord DDA [year]” in Oria. UB Nord does not provide copies from this collection.

Ordering

From 1 January 2026, public libraries can no longer use the old interlibrary loan form to order books for their users.

All interlibrary loan requests to end users must now be made through Biblioteksøk.

Transport

UB Nord’s libraries in Trøndelag have an agreement with Nor-log. Nor-log delivers to other libraries in Trøndelag within three working days. Delivery to libraries outside Trøndelag takes place within five working days. If Nor-log does not meet these deadlines, you can report this to ub@nord.no, and we will register a deviation with Nor-log.

UB Nord’s libraries in Nordland use Posten to deliver interlibrary loans.
