Hallvard Nygaard Falch jobber som kroppsøvingslærer ved Levanger videregående skole. Han jobber også som lærer ved Levanger ungdomsskole. Han har mastergrad i kroppsøving og idrettsvitenskap fra Nord universitet. Falch har tidligere arbeidet som vitenskapelig assistent ved Nord universitet, samt jobbet med idrettsvitenskapelig forskning etter å ha mottatt talentstipend i 2019.

Sammendrag av avhandlingen:
The main research question of the thesis was: “How should court and field sport athletes train to enhance their change of direction (COD) performance in accordance with their sport?” In order to answer the main research question, six specific studies were conducted.
Study I-IV consist of different studies examining change of direction cross-sectionally. Study I, III and IV examines the association between performance in different strength and plyometric tasks with performance in different COD tasks, across different types of team-sport athletes.
Study II examines step- and joint-kinematics of different COD tasks of varying approaching distances and COD angles.
Study V is a systematic review and meta-analysis investigating the effects of different training forms for improving COD performance. The meta-analysis included training interventions utilizing the following training modalities: strength-, plyometric-, sprint, post activation potentiation, COD-specific training and a combined approach, across different populations.
Study VI examines the effects of different training forms (strength- vs plyometric training) with normalized training impulse, for improving task-specific COD performance in a training intervention.
