Stine Marlen Henriksen
My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Social Education, as well as a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Social Anthropology, In 2022, I completed a Ph.D. in Sociology, focusing on the use of coercion towards people with intellectual disabilities. I am currently an Associate Professor in Social Education at Nord University.
In addition, I serve as Editor-in-Chief of Vernepleier.no, a Norwegian professional online magazine for Social Educators.
My professional experience includes work in respite care services for children and young people, supported living services for people with intellectual disabilities, and residential services for people with intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviour.
Since 2015, I have primarily taught in the Social Education programme, covering topics such as the Social Education profession, ethics, study skills, academic writing, philosophy of science and research methods, power in social relationships, and the use of coercion in health and care services.
My main research interests are health and care services for people with intellectual disabilities, coercion and restrictive practices in health and care services, and the Social Education profession.
