This page provides links to privacy notices and information about services used by Nord University Library that collect personal data. The privacy notices explain what information you are entitled to receive when your personal data is collected, pursuant to section 19 of the Norwegian Personal Data Act. They also provide general information about how we process personal data, pursuant to section 18, first paragraph, of the Act.
The Alma library system
To borrow materials from the University Library, you must provide certain personal data for registration in our library system, Alma. Alma is supplied by Ex Libris, which is part of the service provider Clarivate. We register your name, student or employee number, address, telephone number and email address. We need this information so that we can contact you when necessary, for example to let you know that an item is ready for collection or to send you overdue notices. The service does not permit the processing of special categories of personal data.
Browzine
BrowZine is a service that gives you easy access to electronic journals subscribed to by the University Library. It is available to students and staff at Nord University. Using BrowZine is optional. The University Library does not collect any personal data about you when you use the service. Any information you provide to BrowZine is stored on servers in the United States. By using the service, you agree to BrowZine’s privacy policy.
EndNote
EndNote is available to students and staff at Nord University. Using EndNote is optional. By using the service, you agree to EndNote’s terms and conditions and privacy policy of EndNote.
EZProxy
EZproxy uses Feide for authentication and stores information about your user session for six months before deleting it. Information about your internet traffic is not shared with third parties. The following information is stored:
• the IP address of the device you use to access the service
• the URL of the electronic resource you want to access
• the date and time of the connection
• the HTTP method, HTTP status code and response time
• the session ID generated by EZproxy
• the username associated with your Nord University account
Discovery system Oria (Primo)
Personal data is processed when you request or renew loans and when you use other features, such as saving searches. The service allows you to search and filter results, view your requests, current and previous loans, outstanding charges, account blocks and messages from the library. You can also save searches and lists of results. You can search Oria without signing in. However, to request or borrow resources, you must sign in to the service and be registered as a borrower in Alma. When you use Oria without signing in, the service does not store any personal data, apart from technical logs and statistics relating to searches. The service does not permit the processing of special categories of personal data.
Leganto
Leganto is a reading list system integrated with the Alma library services platform. It adds features to the library system that allow reading lists for courses at Nord University to be created, maintained and made available. Personal data is required to access materials on reading lists and to create personal notes in the lists. Staff and students can create notes, while staff can also create and maintain reading lists.
Norwegian Research Information Repository (NVA)
The Norwegian Research Information Repository (NVA) is Norway’s national research information system and open digital research repository. It records publications, projects and other research activities. Academic publications, reports, master’s theses and doctoral theses are also made openly available through the repository. Researchers who credit Nord University in academic publications must be registered in NVA. This means that personal data, including Norwegian national identity numbers, are stored in the system. Zotero
Nord University makes the Zotero reference management tool available to students and staff. Using Zotero is optional. By using the service, you agree to Zotero’s terms and conditions. Please pay particular attention to section 2. Any information you provide to Zotero is stored on servers in the United States. Zotero may be used to manage non-sensitive data classified as green. Interview recordings, files containing personal data and similar material must be stored using another approved solution.
