Skills development for employees

  • Are you a faculty staff member and wish to develop your educational competence and supervision? Nord University offers the following University pedagogy courses:

    Microped (8 h), Modul-based webinar accessible to all employees in both English and Norwegian

    Miniped (40 h), 40-hour course in University Pedagogy, with limited spaces

    Digiped (40 h), A practical course covering digital pedagogy and didactics, with limited spaces

    Uniped (200 h), regitration via the faculty, with limited spaces

    PhD supervision course (approximately 120 hours), registration facilitated through the faculty, with limited spaces

  • Nord University is a proud member of the European University Alliance SEA-EU.

    As a Nord employee, you are encouraged to foster collaborations with relevant partners in education, research, innovation and other areas that contribute to the development of the university and the work packages within the alliance.

    Employees can seek funding opportunities through various sources in SEA-EU and and apply for grants from Erasmus+.

  • Nord University has prepared a set of criteria and accompanying guidelines for applicants for the status of Accredited Teacher.

    The Storting adopted a desicion in 2017, whereby all universities and university colleges shall establish accredited systems that contribute towards placing value of the work involved in developing good teaching practices.

  • Nord University offers Norwegian language courses for international employees, from level A1 to B2.

    The courses are delivered online. More information about registration and related matters is available in the Employee Handbook on Nord University’s intranet.

    Overview of different resources for Norwegian language training

    Free resources:

    • LearnNow is an online beginner's Norwegian course, free of charge. The course will give you an introduction to Norwegian language at level A1 and A2 (ref. CEFR)

    • Computer-assisted listening and speaking tutor (CALST) is a programme for practicing the pronunciation of Norwegian words and expressions, as well as writing exercises. It consists of two modules and is at level A2.

    • Visnakker.no is a Norwegian language training programme that does not require reading or writing skills, and is therefore useful for beginners.

    • Bnorsk.no contains both self-produced material for learning Norwegian, as well as links to other free resources online.

    • Yrkesnorsk.no focuses on Norwegian work-life, and typical Norwegian words and expressions.

    • Skapago.eu has some free grammar exercises, pronunciation videos and tutorial videos. The rest of what they offer have a cost.

    • New Amigos is a Norwegian app that can be seen as a virtual language café where everyone can contribute with their native language from their phone, whenever it suits them. You can use the app alone or together with others, and is suited for different languages levels (A1, A2 and B1). The app can be downloaded from Google Play or App Store.

    • Duolingo is an app where you can learn Norwegian with English as a support language. The programme is easy and can be accessed everywhere; while you are on the bus or waiting for something. All lessons contain tasks in listening, speaking and translating written text.
