OIKOS Norway is a biennial event that brings together ecologists from across Norway to discuss and share the latest advancements in ecological research. The conference is part of the Nordic Society OIKOS, the largest ecological society in Europe, uniting national ecological societies from Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, and Norway.
Membership in NØF and OIKOS is open to all ecologists, with a particular focus on early-career researchers and students.
Nord University participates in the conference with more than 40 researchers, and several BSc students, MSc students and PhD students will present their work.
With various high-profile research projects, including two EU Biodiversa+ projects (GINAMO and BIOBOOST+), two MSCA projects (OCEANHITCH and FAIRYSCAPE), and two Horizon Europe projects (GuardIAS and MPA Europe), ecological research at Nord University is reaching new heights.
The conference is hosted by the Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture.

The opening day is hosted in Noatun on Mørkved campus. This day is devoted to three dedicated workshops for junior scientists, including two workshops featuring specialised data analysis methods and one workshop showing how researchers can be more involved in biodiversity policy.
The second and third days will take place in Bodø centre at Scandic Havet hotel. These two days will feature national and international researchers, including four keynote speakers:
- Prof. Jane Reid (NTNU, Trondheim)
- Prof. Even Moland (Institute for Marine Sciences, Bergen)
