
About the lecture:
During this seminar, Prof. Willem will give an overview of the research of her Sport Management team at Ghent University. They have two lines of research dealing with
several contemporary challenges in sport. One line of research includes the studies linked to professionalization in grassroots sport and one line of research groups all studies on ethics in sport. After the overview, the focus will be on research on the prevention of fraud in sport and how various forms of deviant behavior are normalized in the context of sport.
About Professor Willem:
Prof. Annick Willem is an associate professor at the Department of Movement and Sports Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Ghent University. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Economic Sciences. Her research interests encompass the management and policy of sport organizations and the broader sport sector, with a particular emphasis on professionalization and ethics management within these entities. In her teaching role, Prof. Willem leads various courses in the Master’s program in Sport Management at Ghent University.
