Prof. Dr. Marcelo Cristianini is a Food Engineer with a Master's degree in Food Science from the University of Reading (UK) and a PhD in Food Science from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in collaboration with the University of California, Davis.

He is currently a Full Professor at UNICAMP, where he leads the Laboratory for Emerging Technologies.

Dr. Cristianini has published more than 190 scientific articles, as well as one book and 18 book chapters. He has supervised 30 MSc and 23 PhD students and has extensive experience from both academia and industry. In addition to his academic work, he has worked in quality assurance and product development for companies such as Nestlé, Ingredion, Danisco and Corn Products, and has served as a consultant to the food and pet food industries.
