Research Data Café (Digital)

Research Data Café (Digital)
Ask questions while working on data from your own research project.

Nord University Library invites all researchers (including project leaders, postdocs, PhDs and students doing research work) to the Research Data Café for actively working on the management of research data from their respective projects. The participants will use the time to carry out an activity of their choice necessary for managing research data in accordance with the FAIR principles. Examples of such an activity:

  • Characterizing the data – What kind of data will be produced, which file formats can be used, how much will be the volume of the data, which ethical and/or legal considerations are necessary etc.
  • Writing a data management plan (DMP)
  • Preparing a logical folder structure and providing informative filenames
  • Writing read-me files or metadata files
  • Preparing datasets for archiving.

Visit the research data webpages for more information on managing your research data.

Practical information about what happens at the café:

  • Do not forget your coffee cup!
  • Remember that you have to work on your own research project. The library will NOT be planning an activity for you.
  • Join via the teams link which will be sent out in advance
  • There will be a short introduction round — your name, affiliation, role and your planned activity at the data café
  • Participants focus on their activity and ask questions as they arise.
  • It would be possible to discuss common issues together
  • A librarian answers questions and issues that come up during the process. Short discussions may happen if needed.
  • Summary and wrap up – last 10 minutes.
