The master’s thesis must use the Nord University cover page template.
The thesis and appendices can be submitted as one combined PDF document with standard margins, page numbering, and one-and-a-half line spacing (unless you do not wish to publish the attachment files, see more information below in the section Cover Page Fields). If you need to include additional appendices, they should be submitted as separate file uploads.
Note: If you do not wish to publish the attachments, you must upload them as separate files and not as part of the thesis.

The master’s thesis must be submitted in WISEflow.- If the thesis can be written in a group: Create Group with Multiple Members or a One-Person Group.
- Fill in the cover page fields (see more information in the drop-down menu below).
- Upload the master’s thesis and any appendices.
- Click “Submit” and request a receipt if applicable.
When submitting, you are required to fill out certain information in the cover page fields. We recommend that you read this list carefully so that you are prepared when submitting:
Thesis title
The title of the thesis must be registered when submitting to appear on your diploma. It is mandatory to enter a norwegian title. An english title is optional, but it must be entered if you wish to have an english title displayed on the english diploma supplement (DS).Abstract
When copying the abstract from your thesis, copy from the working document, and not the PDF-file. The latter may cause formatting errors.
Supervisor(s)
Only full name (no title), in the format «First Name Last Name». One person for each line, separated by line breaks.
Make sure the name is spelled correctly, it will be transferred to the Norwegian Research Information Repository (Nasjonalt vitenarkiv NVA).
Language
The language in which the thesis is written.
Can the thesis be published in the institution's open knowledge archive?
If you answer yes, you simultaneously accept the terms of the publishing agreement.If you answer "no", the thesis itself will be exempt, but metadata such as the thesis title, abstract, author's name, supervisors, master programme, course code, publisher, date and language will still be published at the earliest 12 weeks after grading. Make sure the thesis title and abstract do not contain confidential information.
Should attachment files also be published?
The alternatives are «Yes», «No, the attachments should not be published» or «The thesis has no attachment files».Note: If you do not wish to publish the attachments, you must upload these as separate files and not as a part of the thesis.
Should the thesis have delayed publication?
With delayed publication, the thesis file, any attachment files, and the abstract will be published after the selected number of years. This requires that you have answered «yes» to publication and that the thesis does not contain confidential information.Nord University encourages master's students to publish their theses in the Norwegian Research Information Repository (Nasjonalt vitenarkiv, NVA).
For publication to take place, the following criteria must be met:- The thesis must have been passed.
- Any appeal against the grade must have been resolved, or the deadline for submitting an appeal must have passed.
- You must have consented to publication in the cover page fields in WISEflow.
By consenting to the publication of your master’s thesis in the Norwegian Research Information Repository (Nasjonalt vitenarkiv, NVA):
- you consent to publishing your master’s thesis open access on the internet (anyone with access to the internet can freely download and read your thesis) according to the publishing contract (PDF), generally with perpetual access. You can withdraw your consent at any time and ask for your thesis being removed from the repository. Nord University has an unlimited right to terminate access to the material.
- you confirm that publishing your thesis (and all material within it) is verified with any third party (work financed by third parties such as companies, any work that you have not created yourself including but not limited to: images, tables, and reproductions of work). If others have copyrights that preclude publication without permission by third parties, you must obtain the necessary permissions from them.
- you confirm that the privacy protection is in compliance with data privacy policies, so that the thesis can be published online. More information on student’s responsibility for privacy protection in writing assessment.
