Before you can participate in practice placements, you must answer a question regarding stays abroad in relation to tuberculosis. This is done as part of the semester registration process in Studentweb.
If, during the last three years, you have stayed outside Norway for more than three months, you must also complete a self-declaration form.
You are responsible for informing the faculty if you become aware of a tuberculosis outbreak during practice placements or employment, or if you contract tuberculosis during your studies.
The self-declaration form must be completed through an online form. The form must be submitted by 12th September or as needed during your period of study.
Please contact the practice coordinator at your campus if you have any questions or need guidance.
To prevent the transmission of infection, you must undergo a tuberculosis test if you:
- Have stayed in a country with a high incidence of tuberculosis for more than three months during the last three years and intend to stay in Norway for longer than three months.
- Have otherwise been exposed to tuberculosis infection through work or leisure activities.
The list of countries with a high incidence of tuberculosis changes over time. The Norwegian Directorate of Health and The Norwegian Institute of Public Health maintain information on:
- Countries with a high or particularly high incidence of tuberculosis
- Guidelines identifying which groups are required to undergo a tuberculosis examination
Chest X-rays taken at the start of a new practice placement or employment should normally be no more than six months old, and the images must have been taken in Norway.
For further information about tuberculosis examinations, please contact your general practitioner (GP) or the infection prevention and control department at one of Norway’s hospitals.
If you have had a tuberculosis examination, confirmation from a healthcare professional must be uploaded via eDialog at nord.no no later than one month before the start of your placement.
Students who receive preventive treatment can normally complete their practice placements.
