Semester registration
All students at Nord University must register in Studentweb at the start of the semester. You can pay the semester fee and register as a student as soon as you receive your student number.
After you have completed payment and registration, you must register for teaching and examinations. You will also be able to access important learning tools and online meeting rooms at Nord University.
Deadline for payment and registration is September 1st.
Official opening week of the academic year
Welcome to the start of the academic year! Here is the schedule for the first week. Please also check the teaching plan. The schedule applies for students of:
Master in Biosciences (MABIO) with specialisations in:
- Aquaculture
- Genomics
- Marine ecology
The Master's programme in Bioscience officially starts in week 34, and students are expected to be present during that week.
Optional: Week 33 marks the beginning of the academic year at Nord University. Master’s students in Bioscience are welcome to participate in the university’s program on Monday and Tuesday, as well as other activities throughout the week organized as part of the Buddy Week (Fadderperioden) in Bodø 2026.
Monday, August 11th
1 PM - 4 PM: Mørkved Rebus organized by Student in Nord
4 PM - 6 PM: "Pre-study BBQ". Barbequing at Bibliotekshagen, with free food and drinks for all students
Tuesday, August 12th
11:15–12:00: Opening of the academic year for the Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture by Dean Mette Sørensen, A5 Petter Thomassen, main building.
12:30–13:30: Joint opening (outdoors) for all students in Bodø.
Monday, August 17th
9.00 AM - 12.00 PM: Official opening of the Master in Biosciences programme, Room A126
Tuesday, August 18th
Introductory lecture in some of the autumn courses.

11:00 AM – 12:45 PM: Orientation for Master's in Biosciences, seminar rom D203.
12:45 PM – 1:30 PM: Free lunch and buddy program
1:30 PM – 2:30 PM: Official opening ceremony, Origo
Thursday, August 13th
9:30 AM: Excursion to Lustadstua for students at terrestrial ecology and nature management (BA and MA).
Friday, August 14th
From 12:00 to 15:00. Important information about the program, both administrative and regarding master’s theses and topics
From Monday, August 17th
Regular classes (see teaching plan) and buddy program activities in afternoon/evenings.

After you have registered as a student and confirmed which courses you will take, your individual schedule will be available in TimePlan. Please note that the information in TimePlan is not necessarily complete. In addition, information about teaching may be provided in other channels. We encourage you to check Canvas regularly.
Digital learning forms an important part of education at Nord, regardless of mode of delivery. It is important to have the rigtht equipment. All students should have access to:
- PC/Mac/tablet with internet access
- Headset
- Web camera
If you have special needs that affect your learning situation, you can apply for special arrangements in teaching and examiniations. Application deadline is September 1st.
