The candidate´s learning outcomes
A candidate who has completed the education has the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

Knowledge:

The candidate

  • has vocational didactic and pedagogical knowledge applicable to the grades 8-13
  • has knowledge of current statutes and regulations applicable to the training programme and an understanding of the mandate and objectives of the education
  • has knowledge of pupils' aptitudes and background as a basis for learning
  • has knowledge about learning, learning processes, work methods, learning materials, learning arenas, class management and forms of assessment
  • has knowledge about children and adolescents in different life situations, and about the rights of children and young people in a national and international perspective
  • has knowledge about youth culture and children and adolescents’ development and education in a range of social and multicultural contexts, including Sami children's and youth culture
  • knowledge of methods in research and development work

Skills:

The candidate

  • is able to discuss and reflect with fellow students over learning and vocational training in light of professional quality criteria and professional ethical principles
  • is able to plan, lead, perform and evaluate teaching in accordance with educational curricula
  • is able to use and collaborate on varied ways of working and learning resources in various learning arenas
  • is able to make provisions for activities that lead to good professional and social learning processes
  • is able to be a distinctive leader and create a motivating and inclusive learning environment
  • is able to lead pupils' learning activities and adapt the teaching to pupils with different aptitudes in accordance with current legislation
  • is able to establish and develop cooperation with stakeholders throughout the course of education and promote lifelong learning
  • is able to apply knowledge based on research and experience

General competence:

The candidate

  • is able to reflect over educational and vocational didactic issues
  • is able to discuss learning and vocational training from a societal perspective
  • stands out as a good role model and functions in the role of vocational teacher in accordance with the values and norms enshrined in the professional ethics platform
  • is able to reflect on and further develop own competence and facilitate interaction between different stakeholders in the educational programme
  • is able to build relationships with pupils and their parents/guardians, and work together with relevant stakeholders in the educational programme
  • to be able to discuss and collaborate on innovation and innovative processes in the vocational education field

No special costs except semester registration fee and syllabus literature.
The study programme is evaluated annually by students using course evaluation studies and by the programme director. The evaluations are included in the university¿s quality assurance system
